Project overview

Standing 14 storeys high, Trent View House is a well-known landmark in Scunthorpe. Originally built in 1963, the building provides 79 homes for Ongo customers.

As part of planned reroofing works, safe and efficient access was needed for operatives, equipment and materials, while keeping disruption for residents to a minimum.

The challenge

Due to the height, location and scale of Trent View House, the project required extensive planning. The team needed a solution that would support the reroofing programme, maintain high safety standards and reduce the impact on people living in the building.

The solution

Ashbridge Access Solutions installed a full-height, fully tied scaffold access tower and hoist to support a temporary passenger and goods lift. This provided safe, efficient access throughout the works and supported the movement of materials to the roof level.

Rather than installing scaffolding around the whole building, the access tower was positioned on one side only. This approach was carefully chosen to reduce visual impact, limit disruption and maintain a practical working environment for the project team.

The outcome

The scaffold structure has enabled the reroofing works to progress safely and efficiently, while helping to minimise disruption for residents.

With clear planning, a targeted access solution and close consideration of residents’ needs, the project demonstrates how complex works on high-rise homes can be delivered safely and sensitively.
